Hi,

FME aka Feature Manipulation Engine is a product developed by Safe Software; a Canadian company. The same company that has developed the universal translator for MapInfo and also the Interoperability Extension for ArcGIS.

The main purpose of the software was to convert data from several formats to several formats. Now FME supports more than 180 formats inclusive of GIS, CAD, RDBMS and also images.

Safe's software FME also allows to manipulate data to perform operations such as building polygons, trimming lines, extending lines, converting 2D data to 3D ...etc .

For more information about this product, please log on to www.SAFE.com .

I hope you would find this information useful.  ;D

Hi,

Your case is slightly different than what it sounds in your question. You need to get the height of a building; this value cannot be included in the feature itself since a building - in 3D - is formed from a number of features. If your model is in scale, you could use the measuring tool and neasure the hight manually. This is the only way I can think of.

Thanks.

Hi nncy, your topic has been moved as per the above link. I thought it would be more appropriate to add it under Open Source software.

Thanks!

Hi All,

In addition to what NetGIS has put here, there was a set of two books being sold titled:

1. Exploring ArcObjects Volume I and Volume II. These two books are Out Of Print (OOP) , but they are available in PDF format in the ArcGIS 8.x installer. I have started using that book as a reference and I would suggest anyone who wants to learn ArcObjects to take glimpse at the set of book (which comes with posters).

Thanks

Hi Rizal,

It would be more appropriate to address to everyone rather than myself only.  ;)

There is a free extension for ArcView 3.x called ArcHydro which you could use. I have never used it though.

Please check out this link for more information.

Thanks.

Thanks.
