Thanks to everyone who responded, to many to list. A generalized solution is listed below, followed by the original question. Set the page properties of the Layout to the appropriate size and orientation. Draw a ViewFrame on the layout document of the desired size and shape. In the ViewFrame properties dialog that pops up, choose the View to draw in the ViewFrame, choose User Specified Scale from the Scale drop down list box, type 50000 in the 1: text box, choose Fill View Frame from the Extent: drop down list box. This will fills the ViewFrame with as much of the View as possible at scale given the size of the paper. The middle of the View is in the middle of the ViewFrame. To fine tune what is displayed, it is sometimes necessary to pan around in the View and/or change the shape of the ViewFrame. Original Question: I have a lot of maps that I have to print from ArcView to 1: 50,000 scale on paper. I need to know how to set it up in the view so that it's reflective in the layout. In the view I can set the scale to 1:50,000 no problem, but it zooms in to far. When I go back to the layout I just have a small section of the 1:50,000 map not the entire map. Is the scale in the view a representative fraction of that represent in the layout? If any body can give me some direction I would appreciate it. TIA and I will sum. Regards, Tony
