Original Question: I was trying to export a layout from AV 3.1 to either a jpeg or a pdf file, and found that I am losing the transparent hatching patterns that I used (hatch.avp and carto.avp pallettes). Is there a way to retain these transparent hatchings in an exported pdf or jpeg? Actually, the porblem lies in the root. I thought the transparent haching was created with hatch.avp, which was not the case! So, when I recreated this hatch with hatch.avp, I was able to export it to a .pdf without any problem. Thanks a lot to you guys who had taken time to answer my question, here are the responses I've received so far: Phillip Birmingham: Have you tried to export to .ESP (Encapsulated Postscript) and opening it using Adobe Illustrator? This allows the image to be exported in a vector image, which makes image modification very easy in Adobe Illustrator. Lyes Mokraoui: I had the same problem before, what I did was to export to bmp format, then using an external software, I made the conversion to JPEG. The problem is that it does not always work. The other way would be to do a print screen of the the windows then trimming the image using Windows' paint. However, I have seen Windows 8.x doing the job, the software is wonderful for that kind of work. Just to let you know that AV 8.x does not require any external software to make the conversion to pdf format. I hope this would work. Matt Carlson: You could try this - I haven't tried it with AV 3.x, but it may be useful to you: I print to a file using a postscript driver (I use a HP8500, but probably any will do). This produces a .eps file which can be viewed with GSView. From GSView you can create a .pdf or copy and paste into another application. GSview 4.0 and Ghostscript 7.03 from Hope this helps, Ted Florence:You could try finishing the map in Adobe Illustrator using MAPublisher. Then you would get perfect pdf output.
