Thanks to the following persons (apologize if I accidentally miss anyone!): Lorenzo Jorquera, Daniel Reyes, Michelle Handley, P.G.L. van den Beukel, Doug Atkinson. This is a summary of the suggestions: When a layout is saved as a template, it is saved as an ODB file called template.def, in the project's (in which the original template was created) home directory. If no specific folder is chosen by an user for a project, this directory is usually the $HOME or $TEMP directory. This template.def file needs to be saved in any other project's home directory, in case of a user-chosen directory, otherwise it should be avilable to any other projects on that machine. Original Question: Can layout template created in a project be used in other projects? Or, let me put it this way, are user-created templates portable between different projects? I'd appreciate any and all wisdom thrown into this matter. And, of course, I'll SUM. Harun Rashid, GIS Planner BCD Council of Governments 5290 Rivers Avenue, Suite 400 North Charleston, SC 29406.
